Case Repair
The condition of the case and the degree of proper fit for the instrument to the case is critical to proper instrument care. A common problem with band instrument cases is that the latches do not securely hold the case together in the closed position; often simply replacing the latches will correct this. Installation of case latches starts at $17.00 per latch, we stock a wide variety of latches and case handles to accommodate most cases, including vintage case hardware.
Adjustments and regulations
Adjustments and regulations are at the heart and soul of the art of musical instrument repair. This is done when the individual mechanics of the instrument work together to accomplish a specific task at a specific time over and over again; repetitively, exactly the same way every time, in order to accomplish the exact same result. Personifying itself in sound, any alterations of the working order of the mechanics of theinstrument will result in a deviation from the intended effect of the performer or person playing the instrument.
The term "adjustments and regulations" covers nearly the entire scope of musical instrument repair, here are a few of the tasks performed in pursuit of obtaining a mechanically sound instrument. The horn is completely and thoroughly inspected and evaluated for all mechanical and acoustical discrepancies. Once this is absolute, the repair begins. Keys are refit to properly operate between the pivot post and along all hinge rods, key felts are replaced and proper key height is realized, key cups are leveled (tone hole work is additional and a wide variety of repair techniques are offered), articulated keys are adjusted, posts are aligned, key springs are adjusted and inspected.
Adjustments and regulations are charged on an individual basis; in general, flute and clarinet adjustments/ regulations begin at $30.00. Saxophones start at $40.00 for student model instruments.
