Hello, and thanks for stopping by my little spot on the web.

I began my musical journey in 1993 at the age of 31 in Sarasota, FL. I had remembered my father's words as he would often tell me, "Whatever you learn in life, no one can ever take away from you," and at this point in my life I was feeling as though I had lost part of myself. It was then I decided to learn music, my intentions being to learn to play the saxophone. I found a private music teacher (Steve Gould); Steve pointed me in the direction of the local music store with the instructions to talk to the repairman who would help me pick out an appropriate sax. I went to Gattuso`s music store in Bradenton, FL  looking for a repairman named Saul Fromkin. I was pointed towards the back room; it was the next few minutes that would change my life. The moment I met Saul my spirit began to be lifted. This was my first experience of the healing powers of music. I have since believed and practiced the idea that music has many healing and therapeutic values, "Music is as an art that feeds the mind, refreshes the spirit, and can enhance all that is innately good." (Jeff Solie - 1998 Samuels music). I immediately began to spend as much time in Saul's shop as he would allow me! After nearly 3 months, what seemed an eternity to me, Saul finally conceded to teach me, I am not sure if it is because of my persistence or Poungsri`s Thai food and afternoon back massages at his bench. Regardless I was now an official apprentice!!!!!

Professional Band Instrument Repair, LLC is my second privately owned band instrument repair shop. After a successful 5 year tenure with Music Showcase I opened this full service brass and woodwind repair shop here in Seffner, FL. I have upgraded my tooling to include a Sherline bench top lathe capable of Bb tenon replacement. I also have a plating system. I look forward to gold plating mouthpieces, flute head joint lip plates, and this system is excellent for touching up silver horns. Along with upgrades to tooling I have also upgraded my employees; I am extremely pleased to have Joel Kruger onboard. I have known the Kruger family for 7 years. I met them as customers, as I worked on Joel's collection of vintage tenors.

I opened Pro Band Repair in May 2007, we are fully functional and in full time operations. I am as enthusiastic as ever about the art of repair and am looking forward to being a part of your musical life. ~ Scott Robinson

Joel checking sax for leaks

I originally came from Chicago, IL, then, moved to Tampa in 1990. Growing up, my dad always played Jazz, Blues and Rock 'n' Roll on his high-end Stereo system. I learned at an early age what truly artistic music was, and its significance in our culture. This allowed me to differentiate between today's controversial MTV hits and what the current generation's music originated from. In other words, without Jazz, Blues, Classical, Rock 'N' Roll, and even exotic music such as chants, tribal percussion etc... There would be no commercialized music today.

Coincidentally, my father had purchased a saxophone from a local pawn shop with hopes to learn how to play it. Of course I decided to snoop into his closet, a risky decision, and pull it out. When Pop found out about this, instead of being furious, I ended up getting music lessons immediately. I began my saxophone studies in the third grade and played at the annual talent show every year. When I got to Middle school, I out-paced the rest of my band class and decided to advance with my musical studies.

I opted to go to the Performing arts Magnet High school in Downtown Tampa known as, Howard W. Blake High School for the performing arts. Upon graduation, I earned numerous awards including: The Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, Master Musician, Master Certification in Arts, a Leadership Award for Jazz Combo, Member of the Honor Court (4.9 GPA) and my High School Diploma. I currently am Studying Jazz at the University of South Florida, and I am seeking a Bachelors degree in Music for Jazz Performance (BM).

After years of having Scott being my designated repair man, we discussed working together. Now, I am a student under Scott's instruction in Instrument Repair. THANKS SCOTT!
